Was constructed to protect Taormina from enemy attacks. In 392 a.C. by Dionisio and in 902 by the Arabs, the city was entirely destoyed  and after reconstructed.

Its 15th century castle and church dedicated to San Giorgio with its 16th century painting depicting "The Madonna of the Rosary with Dominican and Franciscan Saints" and "Il Padre Eterno ed Immacolata" are worth visiting.
